I appreciate how this affirms what I believe in: an individual can have an inspired idea, but he needs another individual to grow it into something better, he needs a team to make the idea real. I hope more and more creative mentors focus more on the value of TEAM WORK in making an idea brilliant. A seed of an idea may come from just one mind, but that’s just about it. Great creatives, I believe, trust in their team mates.

I was a child for years but I only remember moments.

I remember see-saws and slides and fighting for swings.

I remember being afraid to swing too high for fear I’d break my neck after being catapulted into the air due to my weak grip.

I remember my first crush, that rush of mingled excitement and shyness felt in reaction to someone else. 

The things I do remember are dwarfed by the things I don’t. I wonder if that’s an injustice. 

Memories overload our minds, so our minds have no choice but to expunge memories to make way for new ones.

Yes, childhood is fleeting. As fleeting as memories.

I am a student of language

A disciple of diction

A sculptor of sentences

Or so I wish.

I would like the title of

“Wordsmith”

And be knighted as such.

Sir Me, Wordsmith.

Or so I wish.

Wouldn’t it be great if the mysteries of the world laid themselves bare?

That way we wouldn’t have to keep secrets.

And things wouldn’t be stolen.

Wars wouldn’t start.

Monks wouldn’t have to burn.

Less people would cry.

There’d be less Dylan songs.

Hospitals would go out of business.

Cheche: Why did you choose films as an area to critique?

Alexis: In the Philippines, I think it would be quite honest to say that we don’t have a very healthy cultural criticism, and I think that that’s a bad thing especially in the arts. In the same way that you need criticism with regard to the government, you need it with regard to other things in order for them to grow.
